I just purchased a first hammer fom my LFS and would love to see some of your pics. I want to see what a healthy specimen lools like.
Some of the tissue has receeded on mine but i was hoping with some TLC I could bring it back to good condition.
Any recommendations? What type of lighting and water flow do you have on yours?

The pink is awesome. I like the neon green ones though

kingfisher62,

I learned long ago to never buy a wall hammer with any recent receding. I always check underneath where the skin starts too. They always end up dying. If the skin has already healed around that area then your'e okay.

If it keeps slowing receding in that area I'd cut that whole section off. That's the only way it's going to make it.

What makes it bad with walls is that they are like one big polyp, whereas the branching hammers you only lose that one branch.

Good luck with it.

Is that blue coralline algae to the right of your coral? It's amazing.

What lights are you running again Gaw4fun? Bulbs and such.

Big E, I will keep an eye on it. How would you cut it? Dremel or bandsaw perhaps?

Rollei, that blue you see is just a decorative painted or dyed coral skeleton that I bought years ago when my tank was a FO.

CA2OR & gawf4fun, Those are beautiful specimens.

Can everyone tell me if they think my T-5's 216 W will give this coral adequate light?
Also, what kind of water flow do they like?

I would say low to mid on placement with low to med flow.
