I know this has had to have been asked somewhere before but I just cant seem to find anythng on the how and why prices are what they are.

I have seen corals from the same family with a wide range in prices, and the same coral being sold for decently more then other places with the higher price being for a smaller frag.

So I was wondering what the people with alot more experience in this are doing, how do you come up with whats a fair price and a fair size.

thanks in advance
Bill

All depends on the coral and demand. What were you thinking of fragging.

I am not really in a postion to frag anything, only got a couple common things. Was more of a courisity thing.

and so far its looking like pricing isnt something that can be judged with any type of guidelines although I see people that seem to be trying to get around the same pricing on some things while others seem high but I havent looked to much into them like sps I am no where near ready to give those a try.

Pricing seems to be determined by rarity and growth rate, and of course what the person originally paid. Things like kenya tree which basically grow like a weed are dirt cheap or free because of that whereas the slower growing harder to keep corals tend to be more expensive.
