I've had this growing on my liverock for the past couple of months. Not spreading very quickly or causing any issues that i can see. It looks like a plant with runner and rooting systems but it reacts when disturbed (folds up). Any ideas? Hydroid? If so, is it to be...destroyed?

I posted a similar picture on a different board awhile ago and got pretty ambiguous responses. :)

looks like hydroids to me too.

edit:
some hydroids spread fast and burn most everything else they touch. some don't really make any impact at all. those don't look good, but i can't confirm because i never dealt with that type.
i have the very small clear ones that make little colonies like fingertip size. they are random and sparse, and they have been around forever, so mine are ok, at least in my conditions.

Looks like some lovely hydrozoans to me. Personally I'd be tempted to keep them, maybe toss them in a soft-coral tank and let everything duke it out for territory. I would NOT keep them in an LPS or SPS dominated tank though.

Check out the link below and scroll about halfway down.
