can scratches on the outside of my tank be buffed?

i bought a used tank and theres a line of scratches near the top of the tank (looks like where the lid rested) and i was wondering if there is people that i could pay to come in and buff them out?

If its acrylic you can probably do it yourself with some Novus polish, but if its glass you may need to take it to a specialty shop such as a glass shop or a place that does granite or marble countertops.
