hmm.... I would be worried that like terrestrial rock, it would have bound PO4 and likely some heavy metals in it. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

Brick is typically going to have a lot of iron in it, plus it is fairly weak at the microstructure when soaked. It might be ok for a while, but I would advise against it. Not sure what you need to do, but maybe there is something more appropriate. If it is just some kind of temp support, try coffee mugs or something.

also I have a clay pot in my tank that has been there for about a year now. My clown fish spawn in it all the time.

I have seen reefers with large tanks put treated cement blocks in, but bricks would seem like they would have more elements that could leak out.

Agree with Noahm. What are you using them for? Maybe someone would know of an alternative for them.

Cement yes- after proper treatment- red bricks- no. Terra cotta pots and most ceramics are fine(unpainted but fired).

You can put brick, asphalt, empty wine bottles etc etc in your tank---just check in with Paul B

try some in a test setup. there's a lot of different bricks made from a lot of different clay. maybe the ones you have will be fine, maybe not...no one can say for sure.

You can add bricks to your reef. No problem at all. Conventional bricks are made with approx 95% clay and 5% sand. Unless there have been additives included in the mix they are fine. Pourous too. They provide a good area for beneficial growth.

Was going to use them for building frag racks in a frag tank. Thanks for all the answers. I built em w/o the bricks, just eggcrate and pvc.
