I want to raise the the potassum level in my reef to NSW levels for zeovit. I have a source of technical grade potassium chloride and would like to know of a safe sensible regime for dosing to ring the level from 200 to around 400 ppm. Is this practice acceptable, what concentration should I make the KCL wiyh ro and how much should be dosed each day?

Thanks for any help.

USe this handy calculator. Enter 1ml as the "AMount of water to mix with"

How are you measuring potassium? I'm concerned with he accuracy of some of the available test kits.

In some folks experience, like in this linked post, that kit may have read way too low:

I have made a solution using the calculator 300 grams dissolved in 1000ml of water. The calculator states that each ml of my solution will raise the potassium level 0.59 ppm in my 70 gallons total water volume. I could add it a ml at time with my grotech doser, I used the k test kit today following the detailed instructions on the zeoforum and my k is at 320. so I only need to add around a 100 ml of my solution to get my level to 380. Any one see any problems if I strat adding say 5 to 10 ml a day and test daily?

Thanks all.

There's nothing wrong with adding it slowly, but there's also noting wrong with boosting it a lot faster, assuming the additive is adequately pure. :)

on the zeoforum and my k is at 320.

Maybe. I'm not convinced the kit is accurate. :D

Thanks as always Randy, I actually found myself laughing out loud at myself for being so obsessed that i am truly feeling angst at reading a virtually unreadale test lit, I hope I can sleep tonight.

in addition I now have 4 different calcium test kits and am resigned to taking mean values:(
