changed the media for the first time in my GFO reactor and forgot to rinse the carbon first. got a good rush of black water into the tank then it cleared right up? Just was not thinking for some reason. I dont have any water mixed for a change either sa I change every other week for the winter
will it be ok?

I dont usually ever rinse my carbon and dont use a reactor. One time I had the bag right under the flow going into the sump for a day or two, I never saw any black in the display but there was a lot of black goo getting skimmed out. We did not change water and saw no negative affects on the tank

You should be just fine although I would try not to forget in the future & rinse w/RO water.

I gotta tell ya I was expecting a 5 minute job but it was a-mess from the start
first I pulled the lines with the pump off and it back siphoned about a gallon onto my floor
Then I opened the until to empty into a bag but the bad stuck closed and I was about to drop everything and ended up with a bunch of wet carbon and GFO on my floor
then I got it back in and the sponge holding the carbon in twisted mixing the carbon with the GFO had to start over
then I hooked it up to carbon shooting into the tank and about 4 leaks
next time ill be a little more ready : )

it will be fine, done this a few times and other than looking like a black dust cloud it clears up. just rinse to get the dust off next time.
