are these sponges that I have? They are popping up all over the tank

yeap their called pineapple sponges. It's the sign that the tank is maturing nicely and they are, as stated above, a filter feeder. Don't freak out if they suddenly start to brown, shrivel and die out entirely. This is all normal on the cycle of long term maturation.

They look like zoanthids to me.......
Oh, they other things......yeah those are sponges.

sea squirts ??? sponges ??? tunicates?? either way they are not harmful !!

Sponges...have one approaching golf ball size in one of my tanks...neat looking

Wow those sure are nice looking ones, mine are just a dark brown not a nice shade of green like that!

I've never heard of those sponges being referred to as pineapple sponges before. I always heard people call those tubular calcareous sponges that -- the ones that are usually cream colored. Damn common names.

I've heard them called pineapple sponges before. Gotta love how many common names something can have. And +1 on the ID
