In an effort to damage my house less..

I am setting up a basement sump. In an effort to damage my floor and wall less, what is everyone's opinion on me combining my two 1.5" drains to one 2" drain and running that downstairs to the sump.

From my experiementation it will be a lot easier to run the one drain to the basement than two.

That might be fine, although I'd check the total flow. The 2" won't move quite as much as the 2 1.5" tubes, which could be an issue if you're near the edge.

Do 3" . But you have to admit if the main pipe clogs up for some reason(algae?) it'll cause it to overflow your tank upstairs while with 2 pipes you have a back up just in case.

Agreed with the backup pipe, though I would hope it would be pretty hard to clog a 2 or 3" pipe. If I do decide to go with the hassle of running two seperate lines it would be for the safety factor.

Only plan to run about 1000 gph through the pipe, I would think a 2" could easily handle the flow?

I agree that the 2" should be fine for that level of flow, ignoring the clogging issues.

I agree that you will likely be fine. And unless your throwing oranges in your tank, I would think it would be pretty hard a clog a 3" pipe
