I guess i really don't understand why you need it at all. Does it hurt to have the force too strong? Maybe that makes the motor work double time to turn the prop?

Yes, it can hurt the pump to have the setting too tight. The motor will have to work harder and the loading on the wet and dry bearings will be increased beyond what they're rated for, which can result in excessive wear or the premature failure of these parts.

Correct setting of the pin spacer (MP40w/MP20) or the use of the spacer when appropriate (MP10) is critical to our pump design.
