MP40 issues

My pump is not working correctly. It's a Gen1 MP40. When starting the pump it runs fine but if I crank up the speed or I leave it running for a moment its start sputtering and the propeller doesn't spin freely. It also starts flashing green on the contoller. Thoughts?
