I'm setting up a new custom sump soon for my 55 that'll finally let me have a fuge. i'm hoping for something very simple, live rock and cheato. i have a BB system so i don't really want any sand in there.

Is LR and cheato my best bet?

if i want to keep a mandarin in 6 months, i've read i'll need to continuously move rocks from the sump to the display so it has food. is this really the case? can the cope/amphipods ride from the sump to the display and survive that way?

Thanks!

in my old tank all i had in the fuge was LR rubble and cheato and my mandrin had plenty of food. It will take a while to get the pod polulation up, but it will come with time

here is a pic of my old sump

how can you tell when you're "there" with the pop population?
