View Full Version : Found a good Refugium Bulb (pics inside)

I originally use the cfl bulb that was recomended on melevs site. I had pretty good growth with it. I didnt feel like ordering online again whaen it came time to replace it so i checked locally. Found this figured it was a close match.

Things to consider:
My tank is fairly new but it was an upgrade from an established tank.
I run a MSX200 skimmer
I also run carbon and phos rem. In a dual BRS reactor.

Bright effects 90WT CFL from lowes. Its a 6500K bulb

This seems to have given me better growth in a 3 week time period than the other bulb did and its local.

yeah, i used the same bulb and get great results. Nice write up.

Looks very nice! using a cfl floodlight is a really good idea.

Good to hear, i have always had a hard time finding a good bulb with a good kelvin locally.

Hmm, I will have to remember this. I am way overdue on replacing my fuge light. I have used the same one Melev recommended and it has been awesome, chaeto is out of control, but I would much rather prefer to just go grab it at Lowes if I can than ordering on-line.

Jonny,
I was browsing and found this post about the Chaeto light you picked up at lowes.
It sounds perfect and I need one, but for some reason I can't see the pictures. It looks like it is an older post, so I thought that maybe the link to the pictures was broken(?)
I tried adjusting my settings in my browser, but still can't figure it out. Would it be possible for you to repost them or to email them to me? I am not a bot, I promise, lol =)

ill, look for them and re-host them tonight. I had them on a personal web server that is no longer in commission.

Just go to the lowes.. get the 14 or 16W (can't remember which it was) CFL spotlight bulb.. It says the color temp on the box.. Just get the one with the highest temp. (5500-6500K) That's what I'm using and it grows like crazy.
