Best thing I could have done was remove them.
I decided yesterday to run to Lowes and get a piece of egg crate. Cut them to size and put them in place of the glass lids.
What a difference in lighting and the natives seem to respond better.
I am sure I will have more evaporation but I will deal with it. The glass lid would get water spots, dried salt, etc... I am sure it was affecting the amount of light into the tank
