Hello all,
quick question about Long Tentacle Plate Coral. Recently purchased one and one day later I ended up with two dead fish in the filter bag of my sump and a third fish with a few sting marks on it.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the plate coral attacking fish? I read that it was agressive towards other coral but didn't find anything about agression toward fish. Because it does not seem coincidental that 2 fish died on the same day when up to this point I had not yet lost a fish.

All parameters are zero other than barely tracable nitrates.

Thanks in advance!

Plate corals are pigs. How big is the plate vs the fish? Saw an article lately about a plate eating a jellyfish so it is not surprising. I love my plate and it doesn't do anything like that...

You should also mention the types of fish.

i would think if the plate actually killed the fish, it would try eating them. a healthy strong fish would be able to escape it, liek the fish you saw with sting marks

Thanks for the replies,
yesterday one of my clowns and my six line wrasse were found dead. Today I cannot find the fire fish. I saw the firefish get stung yesterday but it was able to get away. Now today it is MIA. I can't even find his body anywhere. The plate coral looks fat and happy though! All three of the fish were only about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. The plate coral base is about 2 inches by 3 inches and the tentacles extend several inches beyond that. I am now worried for my last remaining clown. Perhaps I should try to trade in the plate coral for something less agressive.

Thanks in advance
