Hi,

could anyone suggest a good color combination for my lights..what im looking for is a bluish look, but at the sametime wanting good growth and color.. my tank is 90% sps..the combination I have now is

1. Blueplus
2. fiji purple
3 blue special
4 blue plus
5 blue special
6 blue plus

All bulbs are ATI but don't mind trying different brands if it gets me the look Im looking for

Its a 72" hood powered by 3 icecaps 660.

So for a more bluish look ,what should I do?

You could change out a couple of your endcaps for t12's and run a few URI/UV super actinics. They make a very nice blue bulb. I also like their new 454 actinic.

Try this:

Blue Plus
UV 75/25
Blue Plus
Aquablue Special
UV 75/25
Blue Plus

That should do the trick!

Throw a 6500K bulb in there in the middle somewhere...for the growth. Then I would add an actinic as well. Lose 2 of the blues...

Try swapping out one of the Blue Specials for a Blue Plus. I run 4 Blue Plus, a Blue Special and a Figi Purple, it looks great, nice and blue. The Blue Specials are 12k bulbs, very white by themselves. I don't think the par diffence between the 2 is anything to worry about either.

Definitely want to avoid this advice. The 6500k will kill your goal of achieving a blue look. The ATI & UVL bulbs have incredible PAR - so you won't have any trouble with growth. Thus, no need to use a 6500k bulb.

Consider the fiji purple as another daylight, as it is more white than people think. So you basically have 3 whites and 3 blues, the whites have more PAR and so that color is going to dominate more, losing the fiji purple or one aquablue special and substitute it with another blue plus will increase the blue look.

ATI blue plus are really good in terms of blue look and PAR.

I do have a couple ATI atinics laying around..what should I switch that out with..the fiji or blue specials?and should atinics be more towards the back or front?

I would use 5 aquablue plus and 1 fiji purple. That will be nice and blue.

If you want a blue look, 4 Blue Plus and 2 Aquablue, or 1 Aquablue + 1 Fiji purple. If you are running 6 x 60", 2 IC660s will do it.
