I've got a pink Bird's Nest that had a spot of algae on one tip when I bought it. I was hoping that it would recede in my tank but it seems to be hanging in there. I don't want it to spread to the rest of the coral so I'm thinking that I should simply frag that tip. Is that the best course here or what? Also, I've got some diagonal cutters but is there something better for fragging a coral like this?

Thanks,
Mike

I would just break off the tip.

What if the algea is not at the tip? where you can just break it off- what then?

I had algae on a frag tip of a birdnest when I got it. It healed and just grew new growth over in a few weeks. The rest of the frag grew much faster than that area, but it did heal.

when in doubt, take it out!
