Line into sump length??

Hello,

So I'm setting up a sump or my 90 gallon. I'm using a 30 gallon as the sump. I'll be using 1.25 inch threaded tubing to go from the bulkhead into the sump. My question is, how far down do I run the tubing? Do I run it to the near bottom, or half way to where the water line will be?

Normally just under the water level will keep the bubbles to a minimum.
