I just started a 10 gallon reef with a 5 gallon sump. I need a decent skimmer that owuld be a good fit for this setup. What would you sugest? I owuld prefer on that can go in my sump but I do not have much of a footprint for one to sit.

Thanks!

Yeah, I was just looking at that simmer. I saw a few reviews that stated it put microbubbles in the water though. I don't think it wold be able to be placed in my sump due to the depth of the 5 gallon sump.

tunze 9002 would work... ever consider going skimerless. after all its only 15 gallons u got there.

Upgrade that 5 gallon sump to maybe a 10g?

I run the 9002 in-tank in my 10G and it works ok. I am thinking about adding a 10G sump to my tank tho, cause the skimmer looks so bulky in my display.

Euro-reef nano skimmer works very well. Only negative is how much a change in water level affects its performance, but other then that mine works great!

True, I could go skimmerless but it stresses me out not having one. It's just a mental thing. I bought a Rio Nano Skimmer for $19 so, I may just run that for some skimming effort and see how that goes.

I ordered it from DT Aquarium online. I did have to pay $8 shipping charge though.

Nice! I hope that is efficient enough for your tank.

IMO.....A skimmer for a nano is a waste of money. Just do your 10% weekly or 20% bi weeky water changes. There is not enough there to justify using a skimmer.

I'm running the Tunze nano on my 46 gallon. I believe its rated up to 50 gallons.

I really love it, it pulls a ton of skim and is VERY quiet. It only releases microbubbles in the tank when its breaking in, afterwards it's clear.

I'm going on a month with no skimmer on 29 g truvu with ten g sump and transfer everything over to a 28g jbj and everything is still at 0. JUst doing my water changes. Pretty cool not hear the skimmer 24/7. We'll see what happens when I load it up with corals.

If you keep doing the water changes on time....you will be just fine.

On my Office BioCube, I try to do a 2 to 3 % every few days.....its not hard, just take some water out....then add new water back in. It takes about 5 minutes.

Then once every 2 to 4 weeks I do a 20%. Thats when I puff off the rocks with a turkey baster.....Get the crap floating & do a full water change....including lightly cleaning the sand. That takes about 1 hour. That 1 hour includes setup.....water change...and cleanup.

I have never needed a skimmer yet
