My zoas are rapidly dieing & upon inspecting I find this white stuff on the bottom of the rock. Is this sponge? On another colony I found these snails, are they safe or are the eating the zoas? Thanks for the help.I am stumped as to why the zoas are dissappearing.

white stuff could be a sponge! Is this a new tank?

Those snails look a little suspicious, Id suspect them as a possible culpret, is the foot pinkish? That can indicate a not so friendly snail.

The tank is a mixed reef running for a little over 3 years now.

I found 2 snails in one of my zoo colonies that looked identical to those. I dont know if they were eating the zoos for sure but to tossed them just to be safe. Your shark avitar is hilarious.

Those snails look like nano conch snails, safe I believe. Postt in invert section for the snail guru ID.

from what I found out from researching snails, thinking i might have a whelk problem, is that the dead-give-away is if they bury themselves. Nessarious look just like whelk, except whelk(which eat stuff on your reef, especially clams, mussles etc.) won't ever go under the sand, nassarious(very good) will.

I am in Gold Hill. Seems like there is not many around here with reef tanks, none that I know of any how, except you if we were to ever meet. LOL

I just plucked 11 more of these guys off what is left of over 1500 polyps. If it is not these snails I have no idea.
