I want to have an ATO which holds atleast 50 gallons. It's going to be ina place which is visible so I would rather not use a garbage can. I wanted to use a 50 gallon tank, but the cheapest I can find new is $134. Any ideas, where I can get a cheaper tank, or something which would look good?

oh usually you can find all types of used tanks on there, i was thinking you could get a nice sized hex tank that you could have made up to look and function nice

in all likelyhood acrylic will be more. I saw once someone who used a fiberglassed plywood tank that looked like an ottoman, he had about 40 gallons worth of capasity and it looked great.

baldwin, Ive been looking for the same thing.....havnt found much. It seems the best/easiest thing to do is find your container and then build around it)obviously that depends on your woodworking skills). Is your tank located near a garage? You could place it there(trash can or food container from a feed store) then pipe it inside.
