Im still quite new to this hobby and i am sure there will be lots of 1st's but I had one yesterday and I feel like sharing it.

Im sitting watching my tank just after my lights start coming. While doing my usual inspections I see that one of the heads of my candy cane has a huge brown spot where its mouth is. I mean this thing looked like a large brown piece of stone about 1/4 in across where its mouth was.

I am quite worried so i take out my turkey baster and start giving it a little squirt. Much to my relief and amazement the front part of the body from a hermit comes out, legs and all!

I just had no idea they could put that much in their mouths! I imagine that the molted husk floated by in the early hours of the morning when it had its feeders out, and it grabbed hold.

Thats all, I am still amazed and wish that i had taken some pics.

i can see where a dead skeleton might have floated onto your candy cane and it ate it. it probably didn't actively kill it though. pretty cool

Wow, that's too cool! Probably very nutritional too, give it back to it. xD
