Koralia 1?

Just installed a Koralia 1 on the opposite side from the 2 stock pumps on my RSM 130D (34 gal) AIO in order to increase flow.

I must say I am shocked as to how little flow there seems to be when I put my hand in front of it! It states 400 gph where the stock pumps on my RSM are each rated at half that. It just seems like the flow is 1/10th of each of the stock pumps.

Is this because it is being concentrated less?

The Koralia's have a wide output while most pumps have a narrow jet. My K-4's move a lot of water yet if you put your hand in front of them it feels more like a current. You want a wide flow, the jet tears things apart... They do take some time to get use to placing them if you've used the other type in the past.

The flow is spread out, not in a straight, forceful way like the other pumps

I have found that anyone who considers a Koralia 1 always is best suited to buy a Koralia 2. I don't know why, but the difference between a Koralia 1 and a Koralia 2 is only 250 gph, but it's like comparing a spring breeze to a hurricane.

I thought about a K1 myself and started a thread asking about the K1 vs K2 and found everyone who told me that unless it is a 10 gallon tank, always go K2.

In my 40 breeder I have a K2 and a K3 along with a 330 gph hang on back powerfilter and an additional 160gph petco brand powerhead (it comes to 1940 gph water movement on the total water exchange). At 1940 gph, I still have dead zones and the overall tank just flows peacefully and gracefully. at 1940 gph in just a 40 gallon tank, it's just enough to make my star polyp colony wave their tenacles.

Sorry to say, if you can take it back for a K2, I would in a heartbeat.

you should try putting on the ring attachment that comes with it which will narrow the flow and possibly give to a small bump in force.

I have 2 x K 1 in my 30G and really wish that I had bought K2s. I added a MJ 900 to give the water a little push.

yes flow is dispersed which is what you want so it doesn't feel strong
