Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my lighting to a 250 watt MH. I have a 60 gallon 24x24x24 cube tank. My current PC lighting isn't bright enough. I'm interested in pendant lighting to hang above the tank. What is the opinion about the Hamilton pendants:

I like the style but read the interior is white paint and not polished reflective material. Not sure if I will get the maximum light out of the fixture.

I also found this grow light fixture with the ballast built in.

Bulb is not included but I wouldn't want a grow light bulb at 4000K. The grow light fixter is under $200 and the ballast is built into the fixture so I have only an 8 foot power cord. I did notice no glass shield but I can add one if needed.

I'm not thrilled with the Odyssea fixtures based on some of the threads and reading elsewhere of one or two catching fire.

I've looked at Icecap which would cost a little over $300 and the Hamilton ReefStar at a little under $300. I plan to hang the light fixture 12 inches above the tank.

I don't want to spend too much on lighting but again $300 is not going to break me. If the grow light fixture looks good then why spend more. It does claim 95% efficient reflector which matches the Icecap efficiency. I am quite sure the grow light fixture uses a magnetic ballast.

Any thoughts on the industrial light fixtures?

They may not be pretty but I am more interested in functional. My tank is in the basement which is my space for the variety of hobbies and work related activities.

As for the bulb, I plan on using a 14000K bulb.
