I am setting up a frag tank that will have two 250W MH Pendants over it. I was thinking about putting a 20K over half and a 14K or 10K over the other half. The 20K side would be used for lower light corals such as chalices and acans and the 10K side would be used for more light intensive corals (SPS).

Now, is my logic on this okay? I am assuming the PAR of a 20K light is lower than a 10K... is this correct or am I just making this up? I appreciate any insight.

Thanks,
Dave

You are correct but i wouldn't blast acans with halides, just my experience. Wiz ;)

Well that is why I was going with the 20K and I can adjust the height of the pendant to fix PAR to where I want it.

From my experience it wont help, especially with rainbows. I literally washed a $300 piece because of my stupidity. Im leaning towards a T5 or light halide tank if i plan to do acans again. Again, just my .02 cents.
