All of a sudden my skimmer stopped working( the pump ) Why?

I cleaned it out and still nothing is it the impeller or is it time for a new pump?

Ive only had it maybe 2 1/2 years. In all my time reefing I had to replace 1 pump after 10 years of continuing use and that was a circulating pump a mag

Probably time for a new pump or look into another skimmer. Pump on mine was a dolphin pump which they don't make anymore. Euro reef sells the pumps right on their site but you're probably looking at $150 for another pump. I spent a little more and bought another skimmer.

Can you move the impeller by hand when it is in the pump? The magnet can swell and sometimes that is all you need to replace. Also, replacement pumps can be found for a lot cheaper than euroreef's site. It is fun shopping for a new skimmer though.

You can buy a new pump or impeller from Salty Critter... A fine sponsor here on RC. I need to order a new impeller for my RS80 , it is deformed and no longer spins. SC also is currently running a sale.

Mine is finiky as well. Sometimes when the powers goes out it does not want to come back on. I usually put my hand over the intake ant it starts to work again.
