250 20 k radium

I have a 4' X 2' x 2' 120 gal. sps dominate tank. the hood i have is made by all glass i run 2 metal halides 20k 250s my associates tell me that the lamps are too close to the water they are as tight to the hood as i can get them . Lamp to water is 5" . Does any one have any thoughts on this , please feel free to comment.

mine are 10" off the water, but my buddies are 5" or less to water surface. you should be just fine.

You will get a better spread with them being higher, but other then that really no issue. Heck, mine are in a full Hamilton fixture that sits right on top of my tank.
