View Full Version : Raising the height of my 180g stand and tank

I need to raise the level of my stand for my 180g tank tank approximately 8 inches. I have an aga stand. Basically, I just want to lay 2 by 4s under the perimeter of the frame in order to bring it up. Would be this ok? Any other suggestions? Thanks

No good reason not to. Except "just laying 2x4" wouldn't be my first choice to go 8" higher.
So why not use the 2x4 you have and build a pedestal the same footprint as the AGA stand to raise it up.

GrampaDon- Not sure what you mean by "pedestal".

Yes I used to have my tank like that before I tore it down to build my own. I would go slightly larger than the stand and just dont lay some 2X4 but frame out a raised floor.

The 2x4s would be the easiest way to go. Just nail them together and maybe overlap the corners Lincoln Log style. It will take 15 minutes this way, probably the least expensive too!
