Hi guys the other day I noticed my water level a little low and my tank was not as warm as it should be. I found out my return pump works but is not pumping like it should 700 GPH. After cleaning and still nothing changing I am going to get a new return pump and was wonder should I go with more GPH? The pump I would need would be in sump I was thinking of trying a 100GPH, would this be a smart move?

Thanks

100 gallons per hour? Are you saying that would be more than the old pump you were using?? 100gph would be an extremely low flow rate, especially given the flow you're losing due to plumbing and the height back up to the tank... I think you'll want a pump that does at least 500gph. You'll want at least 3-5 times your display tank volume to go through your sump each hour, so a 500gph pump, after head loss and such, would probably be a great match for your 70gal tank.

i would try to stay in the same range you are in (600-700gph pump). there is no reason to flow more water through your sump than your skimmer can handle, and macro algae does better in lowwer flow rates. its much more efficient to use powerheads to create flow in your display tank.
