i really don't know much about marine aquariums. we purchased a fire shrimp about 6 weeks ago, and it has shed it's shell twice. is this normal???

I tried to search for other posts, but i did not find any.

Completely normal. The shells sometimes look so real, you do a double take thinking your fire shrimp has died. I have had my fire shrimp for about a year and it molts regularly.

When your shrimp molts, thats a good sign that your tank is doing well and the shrimp is growing. They will molt as they grow out of there shell.

It's definitely normal. And like the other members said, a sign your shrimp is growing and your aquarium is doing well... Good luck..

Both my shrimp molted within 2 weeks of being put in the tank. I take it as a good thing. They are growing and have the right food/water to survive it.

Yeah I agree it is normal, the first tme I saw it happen I thought that my shrimp died and something at the insides out :). All of the shrimps that I have ever had have done it.

My fire shrimp molts every 2-3 weeks. The first time caught me off guard though and I thought he had gotten eaten.
