diatom bloom has happened now i am wondering what sort of cleanup crew id need, i intend on getting a skunk cleaner shrimp later on so i dont want a "big" CUC. i was thinking maybe like 1-2 hermits and a snail but what sort of snail? turbo, nassarius, cerith, astrea, trochus or even a conch?

I have 2 margarita snails and 3 blue legged hermits (1 large, 2 small) in my 10. They do a good job, but I could probably use one more snail. I don't recommend margarita snails though as they are colder water. Stay away from Turbos in a nano also because they get a little large and can knock stuff over.

I like a couple cerith and astrea snails, with maybe one or two scarlet hermits for entertainment.

In my 10G I have 2 dwarf Blue Legs, 3 scarlets, 5 mex. ceriths, 5 nassarius, 4 astreas and 5 Caribbean nerites. I did go a bit overboard with the clean up team :) but I did order -1 of all but didn't know they will give me one extra for each species.

The Astreas eat the most algae, ceriths and nassarius like to dig the sand. Nassarius eat the most left over meat/food and are the funkiest of them all :) Nerites also clean up quite a bit, but not as much as astreas. However the Astreas can't turn over if they fall.

The Scarlets are really cool looking and eat algea more than I thought, however for the first 2 weeks to were fighting for shells and in the end they just swapped shells and are done fighting. I noticed one of the dwarf blue legs was chasing a nassarius for the shell, but for 2 days has not had luck. These snails are fast (faster tan all I have) so should be fun.

P.S. I also have a skunk that doesn't do much cleanup really but are quite interesting. I actually saw mine ride one of my clowns and steal from the mouth of the fish...
