My autotopoff.com just died. Over a year old it worked flawlessly. I would like to replace it with something better. Any suggestions?

If you have a controller you could get something that's compatible with it. I have a Reefkeeper Lite controller and intend to buy a double Float Switch Kit from Digital Aquatics. If you don't run a controller, have a look at the JBJ Auto Top Off. I started a thread inquiring about this unit and got a number of glowing responses and a few negative ones. Check out JBJ's site for more info.

The auto top off units are really some of the best out there. You could look at the ones at BulkReefSupply if you are using your RO/DI directly.

I would go with the Tunze osmolator if you have the money. Very accurate, and the service is super.

+2, from everything I have read, everyone seems to love their tunze osmolator.

And mine ran for 6 years flawlessly till I got water inside the electronics, which was hard to do.

I love my JBJ.
Curious what's in the Tunze that makes it worth $100 more?

Roger Vitko's service, Tunzes year warrenty and the fact that if something happens to it, Roger can usually fix it. Tunze makes their products where they can be worked on for many years.

Plus Roger can be reached on their forum here for questions/solutions most people don't think of.

That sounds nice but....
If mine was ran over by a truck I could still buy another and be at the price where the Tunze starts.

The tunze is amazingly accurate and no floats to get stuck open or closed. Just whipe off the lens every now and then and you are set to go

Why not just fix your autotopoff unit. They all can fail.

The parts are easily available for your unit. It's either the relay which should be available locally for under $10.00 or the floats which can be ordered online for cheap.

Money is always a factor. In your OP you indicated you were interested in something better. If you wanted something better that cost no more than what you had, you might have said so - it would have cut WAY down on the discussion here.

The fact is... better costs more. You have to decide whether the value of "better" is offset by the additional cost.

But FWIW, of you decide to spring for an Osmolator, I'll wager you will not be sorry. You'll find lots of posts from people that have no experience with them, telling you how you can save money. But what you will be hard pressed to find is someone that made the financial leap, and then were sorry they did. 'Cuz the simple fact is... They work. Reliably.
