I just bought a branching frogspawn yesterday (My first hard coral) and I noticed 1 of the 3 heads has an opening in the center. I assumed they all have a mouth in the center of each head. Correct? Anyway do they feed with somthing that almost resembles a feather duster in the shape of a hand? I mean this thing is comming out of the center of one of the heads twisting around in search of food, grabbing what ever floats by and retracts back down in the hole then comes back out for more. LOL I feel like a total noob but like I said when it comes to anything other than softies I have alot to learn.

You have a barnacle. They are common hitchhikers with Frogspawn and other Euphyllia. As far as I can tell, they are harmless; the coral continues to grow right around them.

Each branch of Frog will have its own mouth in the center of the polyps, but you shouldnt see anything coming out of it on a regular basis.

Yea it didnt seem right for a coral. The actions were too deliberate but I must say I like my little barnacle:)

Frogspawns like to string other corals, so be carefull where you place them.

Does that include other Euphyllia aswell? What about other frogspawn?

Chances are yes, it will try and sting another frogspawn and almost certainly another euphyllia. The cases were two pieces of the same euphyllia do well together are when they originally came from the same colony.

I believe all forms of Euphyllia send out stinging sweepers. Use the current to your advantage during placement. The sweepers can not really go against the current.

What do the sweepers look like and when do they come out?

Well I only have a hammer but they a very simialr I believe. Mine will do it day or night and it looks looks like extra long fingers (i am not sure of the proper name of that part of the coral anatomy) mine will stretch 3 inches longer than the rest of the colony.
