My tank has been running for 2 1/2 years and havent added anything new to it in a while yet I'm starting to see new creatures. One I was able to identify as astrea stars (used to see the baby bristle stars but not any more) but I am unable to identify this snail. Could anyone tell me what it is and if it is harmful to my tank. Sorry I couldnt take a good picture:

They look like they could possibly be limpets, but that is just a guess.

Either your pods have learned to construct pyramids to worship their gods...or they're limpets.

Now that is funny. Yes, they look like limpets.

They seem to be arranged in some celestial alignment.

they sure do look like limpets. I have heard some are bad, but at least the ones I have are all good. The way to tell(and it's very easy when they are on the glass like that) is to look at their mouthes. If their mouths look like a tubular mouth, that someone gave a fat lip(swolen) then it is an algae eater.

Very cool things, even though they move REALLY REALLLLLLLLY slow. Thing of notice, they poop through the top of their shell. I kinda got startled one day when I saw projectile from their "keyhole" then i found out it pooped.

I've heard limpets can scratch acrylic, but glass is okay. Other than that, SCORE! Tinman

I heard that the ones that have a hose like thing sticking out are bad for reef tanks but the others are ok
