I have a 10g nano which is 20 inches across and is my first SW and need suggestions on lighting. I only have the standard 2 bulb florescent lights with ecosmart daylight bulbs form home depot http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-Light-Bulbs/EcoSmart/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5ZbmbuZ4b8/R-100687001/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 I only want to keep easy stuff and not SPS. What is the best bank for my buck out there?

Those bulbs will keep the easy stuff. If you want a better color and stay cheap try these.http://www.cheappetproducts.net/20_Watt_50_50_MINI_COMPACT_FLUORESCENT_BULB-P52034.html

Or if you're willing to spend more you can get a 2 bulb nova t5 18" light for around 45.00.http://www.lnt.com/product/light-fixtures/48200/18-36-watts-1x18-watt-10k-daylight-%2B-1x18-watt-460nm-actinic-.html (http://www.lnt.com/product/light-fixtures/48200/18-36-watts-1x18-watt-10k-daylight-%2B-1x18-watt-460nm-actinic-.html)

If you use coupon code album10 you'll get 10% off and they have free shipping right now too.

I would go with the T-5s they are just what you need for a 10 gallon and the all pretty cheap no light from a hardware store is going to have the proper color for a reef tank.

Would that 18 inch fit my 20inch tank with the mounting legs?

I found these
http://shop.aquatraders.com/Odyssea-Metal-Halide-Pendant-150W-with-T5-p/54241.htm
http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUARIUM-LIGHT-20-JEBO-POWER-COMPACT-LIGHTING-W-LEGS_W0QQitemZ270291411798QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3eee9fa356&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

But I would get that T5 one it would fit.

Well the bulbs he found are 14K so they'll be fine. I run two GE 65K compact swirly bulbs from walmart. They work great for all my softies.

The 18" t5 wont fit right, but it will fit on the inside lip of the trim. So it fits but not right. They have a 24" incher that you can adjust the legs to fit and it runs 54.00 after 10% off.

I would waste the money on the jebo power compacts. Power compacts will work fine for softies, but when you could spend half the money and get t5 I would be all over the t5.

The halide looks great. I heard a lot of bad things about aquatraders, and recently good things, but I have never owned one so I can't say much about it. Looks really nice though.

Well I am going to be running the normal bulbs for about a month until I can buy some lights so its good to hear that they wont die. I have a xenia, and some zoas and a GSP right now.

That 18 and 24 inch seems good. Should I get the 24 inch since it fits over? About how much would it hang on both sides like an inch? I wonder if we can mod it to hang.

If I get that MH light, do you think it will warm the water too much? I do not think it is suspendable.
