I have a 2 inch sandbed I want it deeper bout 3 more inches the agronite is cheaper in the 40lbs bag. Any sugestions on which would work better the whole point is to make sure my sandsifter starfish has enough space to dig aroundd.

If you can get true live sand (freshly shipped in and being circulated in a tank) then that is good stuff. It is pretty rare (especially in Alabama I would think) to find a store like that. If that is no available and you can only get prebagged, save your cash and just buy the dry sand.

i would just buy dry sand and as the tank matures it will accumulate the nutrients needed for a good healthy tank.

Nutrients are the things we don't want the sand to accumulate :spin1:

The dry sand is fine, but I'd add only a small amount at a time, to avoid burying the top layer of sand, which contains most of the animals. Maybe 1/8-1/4" at a time would be okay.

Some aragonite sand is sold dry, and some is bagged wet and marketed as "live".

I wouldn't spend the extra money on that.
