With a weeks vacation from work, I figured what better way than upgrade my tank. That said I want to have it done by Friday so I can relax on Saturday and Sunday and enjoy it. Here is the plan...

Sunday - Get Materials for stand, build frame

Monday - Finish stand, canopy, including paint and caulk, paint back of tank

Tuesday - Complete all plumbing

Wednesday - Water Test, clean tank, transfer over sand and add 20 gallons of Salt Water, wiring up lighting

Thursday - Tank Transfer, including sump

Friday - Finish odds and ends

Let's roll...

Sunday went well, the biggest thing that I suck at in life is cutting wood. Luckily Rona only charges $1 per cut and one cut is free with every piece of wood you buy!

The stand will be based on the DIY Stand Template. A problem I had is the Bulkheads Corner Overflows of the tank don't have enough room because of the 2x4 screw boards. Not sure how to solve that problem yet. Any Ideas?

hey Phil how's it going?
Either cut it shorter as it is not load bearing anyways. Or add another layer of 2x4 around the front and slide the tank forwards. It looks like the back "rail"
(for the lack of a better term) might interfere with your bulk heads.
I only noticed it because I had the same problem with mine

add another rail on it all the way around, 2x5 or 2x6 and you can hang it ov er a little bit and trim it out to make it look nice. this will also allow more room to get a 90 degree elbow on your bulkhead. Only way i see a way around it. The corner brace is needed for support though or extra support. You do not have any center supports so the corners are the main ones and if they are shorter then you do not have as much tensile strengthand could possibly colappase if it were pushed from the side. IMO. It could also possibly work if you just cut them down a inch or two but if you did i would put more support just in case. JMO i like to be a bite on the safe side rather than on the ( oh S%^) side.
