if you're not looking to do some serious studies like Frank mentioned, and it's simply to boost the fish's immune system, beta glucan is great stuff, and can be had at the local health food store or a place like Lindberg's.

My guess would be he's either looking for antibodies, such as vaccination, or antibiotics.
