I was looking at my rock today and noticed a few starfish, 1 about the size of a fingernail, and the others fairly/really small. I took a glance to the left and noticed something moving then the thing took off, it was moving pretty fast, could you identify it? and should i remove it, if its gonna harm future corals i put in the tank?

Notice the orange starfish? there are some really small green ones too (and actually if you look to the lower left of the slug above, there seems to be a slightly demented one in one of the holes), but i read somewhere that they can harm corals, so just wondering if i need to get them before they spread

And are these anything, or just the rock?

And one more... What is this little guy starting to sprout up? and what can i do to get him to get bigggg? Its got tentacles, and a red base, it opens and closes, and has white tips, it kinda looks like an anemone, not gonna lie ;) (sorry for the quality, I took it on my phone, and i couldnt get a good picture with the camera)

"Slug Thing" I believe a Stomitella Snail (not sure on the spelling). Anyway, good little grazers.

"Little Starfish" I believe is an Asterina Starfish. Not necessarily harmful, but can multiply rapidly. You will get mixed opinions on these little guys. Some say that they are coral eaters, and some say harmless. Most people (including me) consider them a pest, and pick them out of the tank when they see them.

"The Rock" Actually the purple stuff on the rock is called coraline Algae. It is a clacium base algae that adds nice color to a tank. Most people (including me) love it, and can't get enough of it. It is a little tought to scrape off of glass though.

Little Anemone" I am pretty sure that you are right on the nem. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, but it isn't harmful. It is not an Aptasia or Majano, so I believe you are safe with this liittle guy. Maybe someone else can chime in on the name.

With the exception of the Astrena Star, I'd say you got some nice hitchhikers. Best of luck to you.

I agree with Bassking on all the IDs. The little anemone looks like a "ball anemone". They stay small and are not considered a problem.

I had a few of the the little starfish in my tank, and never had any problems, but they never got out of hand. The nice thing is they don't move real fast, so if they do start giving you a problem, you can take care of it when it does.

extra hitchhikers, no problem

Hard to tell from the pic, but the bottom actually looks like a small Feather Duster. If you wave something in front of it and it retracts, then it's more than likely a small Feather Duster (harmless).

The "anemone" does look more like a feather duster.

the little anemone is a jewel anemone - neat little guys. If you feed them, they'll spread to form a little carpet and look amazing.

about 95% of asterna starfishes are harmless, although if you see them on your corals you should remove them as that may indicate they're carnivorous.
