I recently picked up 2 green carpets (they're beautiful, 10" and 6") at a great price, and have to keep them in a current usa 24g nano. Will the lighting be ok until I cycle a 58g to put them in?

probably not no. Unfortunatly they don't ship the greatest and low lighting will strss them out more. If already healthy i suppose one could survive but lose a lot of colour with the pc's. Do you have a pic?

sorry no pics, they were bought from craig's list yesterday (very sticks and healthy). I have had them maybe a day, and the day bulb in my nano burnt out ( now I have to wait for the bulb to be shipped ( 2-4 days LFS's didnt have one). I am hoping to set up a 58g within the month. Should i try and find another home for them or will they survive?

i agree. The tank probably won't be ready for an anemone in a month, its best to wait a minimum of 3-6mths before adding a nem.

I picked up a sundial T5ho (96 watts)to set on the top of my nano ( current usa 24g), so I could have more time to set up the 58. Thanks to all for the advise! This should hold me over for a while?? BTW my 58 has 4 39 watt T5's, will that keep them happy???

do you know what species the carpet is? Giganteas need a lot of light ( more than what you have ) haddoni would probably be ok depending on depth of the tank. How deep is the 58?

Heres a pic! from the light to the bottom of the tank is 25" minus at least 4-5 inches for sand. What do u think?? thanks

Wont last.. Find a new home, maybe someone can hold it for you? But either way like someone else said, you shouldnt rush and put it in a new tank either..

Personally I would be more worried about the water conditions then the lights. If they are really 10" and 6" you are going to have water quality issues in a 24 gallon tank. Plus, they will take up the whole tank when fully open.

Your 4x39w T5 set up is not enough light.
