Just got my first Crocea clam and I'm trying to figure out where to put him. Can corals still clams or vice versa??? Would it be a bad idea to put him too close to my bubble coral??? Thanks.

I would be sure to give him room to expand his mantle without being touvhed by other corals. New clams are especially sensitive invertabrates when they are small. Clams have low survival rates when purchased anywhere near the 2 inch mark or smaller.

i would not put him close to your bubble as those guys can have some really long sweepers, and yes corals can sting clams. if you do put him on the "other" side of the current

A Bubble Coral would wipe your clam out in short time. Keep in mind that Bubble Corals have stinger tentacles that can stretch out near 12".

I have kenya tree and xenia up against my derasa with no harm... but I wouldn't put it next to a bubble coral or any coral with "sweeper" tentacles.

my bubble likes to sting anything that gets near it. i would keep clam away if i was you.wanted to trade my bubble for this reason, but my better half didn`t want me to get rid of it. so i had to rearrange for clam

I don't think croceas are all that sensitive to stings personally.

One of my BTAs has camped out right next to my crocea, and the clam couldn't care less. The tentacles don't 'stick' to the clam's mantle, and the clam doesn't react to the 'nem at all. I was amazed; this hobby never ceases to surprise me.

My galaxea has grown into territory occupied by a crocea and the sweeper tentacles have killed off everything but the clam is unfazed. I tried moving the clam but he was anchored too firmly, and have tried trimming back the galaxea but it encrusts so closely to the rock I can only chip off the upper portions. But it seems the clam has adapted to it as the sweepers are all over the mantle and it doesn't even flinch.
