Just get regular super glue gel with no additives but the cyanoacrylate

+1 Just be sure to get the gel. I get mine at the dollar store, 3 in a pack for a buck

is super glue safe?

Yes very safe no issues.

I have been using it for years and years. As have MANY other reefers.

Attaching frags to rock usually.

do you glue to frags/rocks out or in water?

Im assuming SPS......

Yes, glue frag to rubble rock.....glue rubble rock to parent material.

Tip: Lay frag down lengthwise, rather up and down. SPS are kinda like cats, and encrust out first, almost like wiskers on a cat....they won't move until there is enough base down.

With it layed lenghtwise, the 3/4/or 5 radial coralites just became 3/4/or 5 axial corallites instead of the single one......which now becomes a larger encrustation.

I have found these tend to be a little more "robust" when it comes to RTN if it is not all glue and no frag.....

Downside: Takes forever to see any real picture worthy results...but when they do they grow bigger faster and more dense that otherwise.

If you expose the glue to water, a thin layer will form on top of the super glue gel. This is very helpful when applying a new frag to a rock/plug. Just pop the seal and apply pressure.

TIP
set the frag in place WITHOUT glue first. Make sure it fits and has ample surface to surface contact.

Also, try not to glue your fish's mouths shut.

is super glue safe?

Safe as far as being reef-safe using a couple of drops to attach frags and such ? Yes.
SAFE -- Not really. Do a search on cyanoacrylate safety. It is nasty stuff.
All of the "I and many others have used it safely for years" posts can be applied to any number of things commonly used in reefkeeping.
Muriatic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Bleach, etc.
There are others that use more CA glue than any reefer ever would and the hazards have been documented "for years".
I still use it, frequently.
It's about as safe as the gasoline or guns that I and many others have used for years with no issues.

SG works better out of water, on dry surfaces. You also dont have to use all that much vs underwater gluing.

if i can do it, i will always glue stony frags out of water, dabbing both surfaces dry(hold frag upside down so water doesnt run back on end) drop of glue on both surfaces, apply rock to frag if possible. invert, rinse under some tank water to kill the glue, put back in tank.

IME it totally sucks for gluing frags to glass. even gluing out of water..always seem to eventually fall off. now CD cases...wow that stuff is permanento. frags never come off of plastic for me.

That's the very stuff I have been using. Cheap too, something like 99 cents for 4 small tubes at walmart :)
