Even if they are mediocre, I may get one to have "on hand" just in case. If they are good then I'll use them as my regular bulb.

FWIW
I use 400w radiums and I just ordered the 400w aquamaxx 14k's.
Sanjay rates these bulbs as almost exactly like the radiums in the 400w version.
The aquamaxx 14k is really a 20k bulb.

I picked up 4 of these for $187 with free shipping. So I just had to give them a try. This is about half the cost I usually pay for radiums.

Orr said it's really like a 20k bulb so I would assume so. Did you read the charts?

i looked through charts and saw how it was compared to a 20k bulb. But i was more interested in the color as 20k bulbs differ greatly on exactly how blue they are compared to each other. Wanted to hear from someone who has actually seen the color comparison vs numbers matching up on a spreadsheet. Reviews on web page seem to vary a lot on what people thing of how blue it is as well.
