I'm planning on my new mixed-reef tank (240Gal) and wondering if I can use just T5 only? Does T5 work for SPS coral?

Any advices appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

depends on the height of the tank..yes t5's can be enough for sps with invidual reflectors and the right amount of bulbs..-drew

Yes you can.
You get greater color control and even spread of light with less shadows, but it looks more flat and you don't get the shimmer. I had 6 T5's over my 46g in a canopy and it still heated up the water.

My tank dimension is 96x24x24 - how many bulbs and watts do I need for this tank?

Any recomendations?

Thanks

I would go with two 4 foot ATI, 10 lamp Power Modules. Available from Reef Geek. Might just as well start with the best.

Jump over to the T-5 Lighting thread and ask for recommendations from Grim. He will be able to tell you the number and best combination of bulbs for your tank as well...
