Hey guys,

I picked up some favia frags a while back, and they all grow with the heads tightly knit together, but for some reason this one (pookstreets deep six) grew strangely with all the heads spread out.. is this common? Will they eventually grow close together?

A lot of different species and genuses are sold as 'favia' Some have more space between polyps than others.

the thing is, it used to be close together just like my babys breath favia, but after time and growth, it looks like that now, all spaced out

It looks retracted to me. Is something bothering it?

nothing bothering it, it's fully puffed up like that, it's in a corner all by itself

Hmm, I'm thinking you got some other Favid coral here, but you can never be sure since coral growth is poorly understood.

Not looking good imo. Think something is not right. Looks bleached or infected. I'd consider moving it and maybe dipping in tmpcc briefly. Check your water, alk, ca, mag, temp. Feed small food sources/mixes, not mysis. Ask Kenny to take a look at your pic and see what he thinks.

but its quadrupled the number of heads in a few months? I have tons of lps in my tank and no problems as far as infections/parasites go?

I do feed mysis/enriched brine every now and then to all the lps by spot feeding.. I will pm kenny see what he thinks :)
