most people who have this tank myself included take the skinny long sponges out. if you still want to have sponges, there is a few things that you can do.

the bigger block sponges that you use in the media chamber for instance, they are bigger then the return chambers width front to back so you can squish one of those on each side and it wont move. thats if you want to run sponges at all.

Do you have a stock pump or did you put a different one in?

the water lvl in the return area is usually kept about a half inch lower then chambers 2 and 3. by doing this the water doesnt really make and bubbles because its not falling into the chamber like a water fall. but you can also replace the sponges like i said and then just make sure your water reaches the bottom of the sponge you use so the water isnt falling into the chamber

i I was to fill the water in those chamber up to where it was half an inch lower than the other chambers does that run a risk of over flowing the tank and sinful aquatics I still have the stock pumps in the chambers

nope it shouldnt overflow, thats how i have my water lvls and if i turn both pumps off the water lvl will raise higher but not enough to overflow
