hey guy i am doing my homework is search of a skimmer for my nano. i dont know if there are many to choose from, i do see sapphie aquatics make one but i dont want there's! after days without a returned email and reding others having problems with the product & company i assume not do my transatino with them. are there any other companys selling skimmers for a tank this small? if you have a skimmer please chime in on your experience and thoughts, even if its in like a 14 or 28 AIO nano. TIA jay

With a small 12g tank, you don't really need a skimmer. Just do your weekly/bi-weekly WC's and you will be fine.

I run a loaded AP 12g, 3 fish, no more room for anything and run no skimmer at all. I have a DIY fuge and light in the back, and chemipure elite in a filter bag in the 3rd chamber.

I change my water every other week now, and all readings are good.

You can get a skimmer, but I think that your money is better spent elsewhere.

i was wondering about that, i think your right i will just build a fuge and media rack instead. what do you use to light the cheato? are the submersible LED's any good ? i would not want to flood the back of the tank with light.

I DIY'd my fuge light:

i have a ap24 and got a intank media basket in which i dumped in floss, carbon, and purigen. then next to it i placed my CPR skimmer and dumping to the other side. and inbetween i have a green killing maching uv sterilizer and upgraded the pump. the skimmer works really great and does not put out micro bubbles at all. i hope this helps!
