Hi guys. I posted this in the LPS forum but didn't get much replies so I'll try here as well.

I've had it for a few almost a month now and is my first chalice. Yesterday I noticed a white spot (tissue loss) in the middle of it. I've read only bad things about chalice tissue loss so I posted on RC right away...

Then a few hours later the hole closed and looked like a regular eye so I thought it had recovered from whatever it was.

I just got back from work and noticed the hole open and this time deeper and another small/shallow one on the other side. I moved the coral under a rock (thick shade). Also it looks much bumpier than usual. It is usually quite smooth.
Water params:
SG 1.027
Phos, Nit*, Am all 0
Alk 10
ph 7.7 (I know a bit low, but it is stable around 7.6 and 7.8 throughout the day)
Mg 1350
Temp 79F

Any thoughts?

Hmm maybe another eye is forming? What is the calcium level? Mine was in decline back when my ph was fluctuating, but never tissue loss.

Oops forgot to put Calcium. I've never seen it below 490. Usually in the 540s

I have had luck with dipping my chalice after seeing any type of tissue recession in CoralMed.

I have alot of chalice's and your's looks really good who know what that was but if it's all good now don't worry about it, looks fine. When they feed they swell up alot and then they relase all the water and go down all the way to the skeloton tissue when i first saw that it freaked me out but thats is normal thats why it looks bumby next it will swell up and be big in the next few days.. Brian... that kind of looks like a eye starting to..

Just an OT question - How do people get thier chalices to grow in a flat circle? Mine likes to grow up (like Terahz's above) , it is growing, adding another eye, but doesn't get wider...

fiddly_foo: thanks, hopefully it makes it. It is my first and only chalice so I'm not really sure when it is good and when it is bad.

RTMA: mine is actually on a reversed plug, not on a flat one so guessing that's why it looks like this.

thats just the way it was fragged on that piece of LR thats why some are flat and some grow up a little ..
