DIY mag recipe dates?

They are both still valid.

If you using the 2 part supplementation that uses Calcium chloride as the main or sole incredient for the calcium then use the first one you mentioned.

If you use some other method of supplementing alkalinity and calcium that doesn't add chlorides ( such as Calcium reactor or Kalkwasser ) use the second one.

i use kents liquids for my 2part at the moment but I will be going the chloride route when its all gone.

As David mentions, if you are not making a DIY two part recipe (which uses the 5:3), the 10:1 ratio is appropriate for nearly all other times when you are just adding magnesium. ;)
