ESV seawater mix....mixed a 20g batch this morning.. New salifert test kits were used to test cal, alk, and mag... This salt gets the results that it claims... To the tee!

Hi

Are you still liking this salt mix? How are your corals responding? Would you mind posting your parameters from a batch of the ESV?

Thanks

I'm LOV'N this salt mix.....I have my system setup so that I can change 20g from my sump, without having to turn off the return pump, or shut down the system....with this salt mix, there is ZERO water cloudiness while changing new water, with current tank water. I just finished changing out 20g this morning, as sunday is my tank maintenance day. As a side note, I no longer dose Mag to the tank, as I believe the ESV mix is keeping my mag level steady through water changes alone...As far as corals rersponse to the mix, well thats hard to tell, as I mainly keep zoos and polyps, and there always seems to be good polyp extension. I will also note that after 4 -20g water changes, my purple coralline algea seems to be a richer, deeper purple.
I believe ESV claims;
B-IONIC SEAWATER PARAMETERS (@ 34 ppt salinity):
450 ppm Calcium • 3.25 meq/L Alkalinity • 1400 ppm Magnesium

My current batch was: (tested with salifert tests) sg 1.25
440ppm. 3.30 meg Alk 1385 mag

okay, thanks for the update

I always measure my alk in dhk...would you mind telling me how to translate your measurement to this? Is it ~9 dhk?

I heard good things about this salt as well and purchased it from http://www.saltwatercritters.com. I saved money on shipping since I picked it up at his place in Ossining, NY. Once I am done with my last batch of Coral Life I will give it a try.

Nice, I ordered mine from PetStore.com (http://www.petstore.com/E.S.V._B_Ionic_Seawater_System_Salt_Mix_w_Measuring_Supplies_Salt_Mix_for_Aquarium_Water-E.S.V.-EV4111-AQSWSA-vi.html) It was $64.99 - 5% Bing.com cashback and free shipping if you order over $75. I needed a mini-jet 404 so this was perfect.
